What You’ll Be Doing

 

We are looking for a detail-oriented and strategically minded Compliance and Contracts Manager to lead and support critical compliance, risk, contracts and operational functions for Cadmus’ UK office. This role ensures contractual integrity, regulatory alignment, and operational excellence for business development, programme delivery and corporate processes. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in safeguarding business interests while enabling smooth client delivery, maintaining our standards with UK government requirements, international due diligence protocols, and sustainability commitments.

Cadmus’ UK subsidiary is an integral part of our International Development Division and provides a range of services to UK, EU, and other international donors.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensure business development activities meet internal and external compliance standards.
  • Design and maintain robust due diligence frameworks for partners, suppliers, and subcontractors. Provide QA of due diligence processes and manage disqualification protocols.
  • Prepare, review, and revise contracts for clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure clarity, enforceability, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry/client standards (e.g., GDPR, FCDO frameworks, ISO standards, FCDO Terms and Conditions of Service Contracts).
  • Assess and mitigate risks in head contracts during negotiation and execution.
  • Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor terms to align with head contract obligations.
  • Act as the point of contact for contract-related queries from clients, partners, and internal teams.
  • Address and resolve contract disputes or breaches in collaboration with legal counsel.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on contract status, risks, and opportunities.
  • Oversee operational setup of new programmes, including the operationalisation of compliance and risk management frameworks in overseas programme contexts.
  • Support ongoing compliance and risk management across active programmes.
  • Coordinate annual compliance updates across the supply chain, advise and manage third-party risks.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting annual declarations to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and other clients, as required.
  • Ensure timely updates and renewals of UK policy documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining CyberEssentials certification.
  • Support implementation and annual audit of ISO 27001 standards.
  • Support Cadmus global reporting to United Nations Global Compact and under the Modern Slavery Act.
  • Contribute to Cadmus global/UK sustainability reporting and carbon reduction planning.
  • Maintain documentation and audit trails for internal and external review.
  • Coordinate incident management procedures.

Qualifications

We are looking for a young professional with prior experience in contributing to MEL assignments in the development sector. They will preferably have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, International Development, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in contract management, compliance, or risk management or experience working as legal/para-legal in a consulting environment.
  • Proven experience developing due diligence frameworks and managing compliance processes.
  • Experience working in a compliance, risk and/or contracting function in an international organisation.
  • Strong understanding of UK government contracting and donor-funded programme requirements.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement experience and project management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and proven quantitative skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English and the right to live and work in the UK.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or professional certification in Compliance, Risk, or Contract Management.
  • Experience working with FCDO, BII, UN or other donor organisation.
  • Familiarity with FCDO Terms and Conditions of Service Contracts and the FCDO Supply Partner Code of Conduct.
  • Experience in supporting preparation of compliance documentation in response to RfPs
  • Experience with ISO 27001 implementation.
  • Familiarity with sustainability frameworks and carbon reporting.
  • Experience working in complex and time-pressured contexts
  • Ability to work independently and with multicultural teams to achieve results.
