Overview

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading the design, development, and optimization of Java-based applications for CLIENT.  
  • Architecting and implementing cloud-native solutions on AWS, ensuring security and scalability.
  • Managing containerized deployments using Docker, Kubernetes, and CloudBees CI/CD pipelines.
  • Overseeing the modernization of legacy applications, driving cloud adoption and microservices architecture.
  • Defining and enforcing development best practices, including secure coding standards and design patterns.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, security, and business analysts, to align development with USCIS objectives.
  • Leading and mentoring development teams, conducting code reviews, and ensuring high-quality software releases.
  • Supporting automated testing and deployment strategies, integrating CI/CD best practices into the development lifecycle.
  • Troubleshooting complex technical issues and optimizing system performance.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead for Java-based applications, ensuring best practices in development and deployment.
  • Architect, develop, and maintain scalable and secure enterprise applications in a cloud-based environment.
  • Oversee and optimize CI/CD pipelines using CloudBees and other DevOps tools.
  • Lead containerization efforts, managing Docker environments and Kubernetes orchestration.
  • Define and enforce software development lifecycle (SDLC) standards in Agile environments.
  • Mentor and guide junior and mid-level developers, fostering professional growth within the team.
  • Collaborate with Client stakeholders to gather requirements, define project goals, and deliver high-impact solutions.
  • Conduct code reviews and security assessments to mitigate risks and enhance application performance.
  • Drive the modernization of existing applications, integrating cloud-native tools and microservices architectures.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, recommending innovative solutions to improve efficiency and maintainability.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • DHS clearance (Active or ability to obtain).
  • US Citizenship required for Federal Clearance Requirement.
  • 11+ years of experience in Java-based application development.
  • Strong expertise in AWS cloud services (EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, IAM).
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized application management.
  • Proven ability to design and manage CI/CD pipelines using CloudBees, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD.
  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture and API development.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB).
  • Familiarity with federal security and compliance standards.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Knowledge of serverless architectures using AWS Lambda or similar technologies.
  • Strong background in performance optimization and application scalability.

Based on eligibility and job status, Cadmus offers an excellent benefits package to include: medical, dental, vision, company paid disability and life insurance, 401(k) program, paid time off (PTO), paid holidays, voluntary time off (VTO), tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance program, other optional benefits and various bonus programs.

 

The minimum starting salary for this position is $135,000.00.  The actual salary may be higher and will be determined by several factors, including relevant work experience, education, skills, and market competitiveness.
