    Cadmus seeks a Data Analytics and Development Director to join us in one of our primary office locations, preferably Boston, MA, Boulder, CO, Oakland, CA, Portland, OR, or Washington, DC.


    By being a part of our Energy Sector’s expanding team of data sciences and applications developers, you will help us marry advanced data analytics capabilities with our deep domain expertise in energy, environmental, and other disciplines.

    The successful candidate will work with a strong team of statisticians, economists, and applications developers and direct their deepening collaboration with Cadmus domain experts. We’d like a problem solver who can comfortably engage with our subject matter experts to ask the right questions, and who quickly determine scalable solutions frameworks. The team will accelerate the firm’s application of advanced diagnostic and predictive analytics to provide actionable intelligence to our clients.


    • Overseeing data solutions team and business requirements, including advanced analytics, applications, and data environments
    • Working with Sector leadership team to develop and execute business strategies and plan
    • Applying advanced analytics to refine existing and develop new decision systems to support funded project work
    • Managing and mentoring staff in our data sciences team
    • Providing leadership in developing business opportunities with existing and prospective clients
    • Communicating analytical activities and findings as part of a compelling narrative that relates to key research questions


    Technical Requirements


    • Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in computer science, statistics, physics, mathematics or a related field with a focus on data analysis
    • At least 10 years of progressive experience in the energy industry or consulting. The ideal candidate will have exposure to one or more of the following areas: AMI data, building energy modeling, modelling energy savings or customer behavior, calculating demand response load impacts
    • Solid understanding of statistics, algorithms, data structures, and deep data analytics using machine learning libraries for pattern recognition and predictive analytics
    • Experience using and configuring both relational (e.g., SQL) and nonrelational (e.g., noSQL) databases, as well as time series DBs and search engines
    • Strong programming skills in statistical modeling (R, SAS, Python, Java) and large data frameworks (Hadoop)
    • Knowledge data file formats and how to import and process them (SSIS preferred) from a wide variety of sources, including public databases, client information systems, web-scraping etc.
    • Experience with visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI)
    • Experience with GIS tools
    • Knowledge of cloud platform architecture and administration (AWS, Azure)
    • Experience with model validation techniques in machine learning

    • Ability to interact with and inspire the confidence of our clients
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively to external stakeholders
    • Creative analytical skills and the ability to conceive solution paths to diverse interdisciplinary problems
    • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects & tasks simultaneously (both client-facing and internal)
    • Ability to adapt quickly: to events, new opportunities, new technologies, rapid growth, etc.
    • Ability to maintain composure and interact gracefully under pressure with both staff and clients

    This position in available in any of our primary offices, preferably Boston, MA, Boulder, CO, Oakland, CA, Portland, OR, or Washington, DC.
