  • Overview

    Cadmus seeks a database engineer to help develop and maintain analytics and reporting platforms for Cadmus and our clients.


    Cadmus provides advanced analytic and strategic consulting services to energy companies, utilities, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. For clients looking to improve demand-side solutions, implement more effective pricing strategies, and increase customer satisfaction, advanced analytics provide the foundation for effective decision-making.


    Working alongside collaborative, client-service driven colleagues, the database engineer is a key contributor to our innovative solutions. In addition to technical acumen, we seek a team-member who is a problem solver, excited to build and improve our systems.


    • Contribute to the design, management, and implementation of complex SQL databases
    • Optimize and automate existing ETL and data-flow processes including file imports/exports and data-refresh processes
    • Develop Microsoft SQL Server SSIS packages to implement ETL requirements
    • Maintain data collection tools in FileMaker Pro/Go and CouchDB


    Technical Experience Sought:

    • Bachelor degree in computer science, engineering or a related subject.
    • 3 or more years relational database management system (RDBMS) experience in Microsoft SQL Server
    • Working experience with the following technologies: SQL Server, Visual Studio, SQL Server Data Tools & Team Foundation Server
    • Ability to read, interpret, and improve query execution plans
    • Demonstrated experience in analyzing, designing and supporting applications that interface with the database
    • Skilled in database architecture and design principles including relational database design, views, indexes, joins
    • Demonstrated experience in refactoring, testing, debugging and optimizing SQL code
    • Ability to manage SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages to import data from multiple sources/formats.
    • Python and C++ programming skills
    • Experience using and configuring NoSQL environments such as MongoDB, hadoop/Spark desired

    Consulting Experience Sought:


    • Good written and verbal communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to self-train including additional trainings and certifications
    • Understanding of data analysis; able to understand the needs of internal and external clients


    The preferred location for this position is Madison, WI. Candidates in Waltham, MA or Portland, OR will also be considered.
