    The Cadmus Group LLC has an opening for a consultant to join our Energy Services team as a Senior Economist (Senior Associate). Energy Services at Cadmus provides advanced analytic and strategic consulting services to energy companies, utilities, governments, and non-profit organizations. Our talented, multidisciplinary staff provides comprehensive solutions to complex energy and sustainability problems.

     

    Qualified candidates will have several years of experience with energy economics, advising clients on a range of demand side management programs, including demand response, distributed energy resources, energy efficiency, behavioral, and customer engagement programs, as well as pricing and rate design. The Senior Associate plays a role in both business development, serving as technical experts within the company while also coaching and mentoring junior staff.

     

    Cadmus is a leading provider of consulting services to utilities, government agencies and the private sector in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable and distributed energy, sustainability, utility planning and forecasting, and other professional services. 

     

    Responsibilities

    • Design and implement complex sample plans to achieve specific research objectives. Studies may involve randomized experiments or quasi-experiments.
    • Select and apply appropriate statistical and econometric methods to estimate demand side management and program impacts
    • Justify and document technical decisions related to research planning and data analysis.
    • Report and present results and findings, as well as actionable recommendations to utility clients and regulators
    • Manage tasks or projects, monitor progress against milestones and budgets.
    • Supervise and mentor junior and mid-level staff
    • Develop and execute business development plan; deliver against annual sales and revenue targets

     

    Qualifications

    • Master’s in Economics or other quantitative social science, with graduate coursework in sample design and design-based inference
    • 6+ years of work experience in energy efficiency or utility industry, including at least 4 years of consulting experience
    • Strong command of basic statistical inference tools (e.g., power calculation, ANOVA, multivariate regression, discrete choice analysis)
    • Familiarity with advanced statistical methods (GLM, categorical analysis, and time series methods)
    • Expertise with programming in at least one statistical software package (e.g., SAS, R, Python, Stata, or MATLAB)
    • Manage multiple tasks or projects and work closely with other project team members
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to explain technical information to a lay audience
    • Desire to develop existing and new skill sets in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with colleagues who take pride in their company and enjoy their work
    • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

    Preferred

    • Ph.D. in statistics or economics with 3+ years of consulting experience
    • Familiarity with program planning and design or program implementation in energy efficiency or utility field 

     

    Additional Information

     

    The preferred location for this position is Cadmus’ office in Portland OR, but qualified candidates in Boulder CO, Oakland CA and Waltham MA will be considered.
