  • Overview

    The Cadmus Group seeks a motivated and creative mid-level consultant to help win and deliver projects in our growing Sustainable Transportation Practice. The Sustainable Transportation Practice supports Cadmus’s clients in streamlining and increasing the efficiency of transportation practices and programs through methods that reduce harmful emissions, save energy, and minimize waste. Our sustainable transportation solutions help reduce fuel dependence and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, protect critical assets, increase safety, and support healthy communities and habitats, while also managing costs across the life cycle.


    The successful candidate will have experience and interest in the field of sustainable transportation, preferably across several modes and a breadth of subject matter. Relevant subject areas may include sustainability planning, alternative fuel vehicles, energy resources, environmental assessment, climate change mitigation, vulnerability analysis, environmental justice, and transportation demand management. The successful candidate is highly motivated to perform and learn, entrepreneurial, able to work collaboratively and independently, can manage assigned tasks and projects from start to finish with input from supervisors, and has exceptional written, verbal, and analytical skills.


    • Work independently and in teams to deliver technical project work, including research, analysis, marketing/communications, and policy projects.
    • Manage the work of project teams as assigned, monitoring project schedules, budgets, and scopes against plan.
    • Ensure high quality client deliverables in all activities.
    • Foster successful, productive, and sustained client relationships.
    • Support opportunity capture and proposal efforts, including administering data calls, coordinating subcontractor team members, preparing technical writing, and pricing.
    • Help develop business and promote Cadmus’ brand through conference and journal submissions and presentations.
    • Occasional travel may be required.



    • Graduate degree in transportation studies or a related field such as urban planning, civil engineering, economics, public policy, or similar.
    • 4+ years of relevant experience, with demonstrated successful project delivery experience.
    • Excellent writing skills, particularly for communicating complex, technical material in a clear, succinct, readable manner.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, including setting priorities and adapting to changes in a time-sensitive, deliverable driven workplace. 
    • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
    • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office applications, particularly Word and Excel, and good understanding of other standard office software applications.


    • Established network of professional contacts in the sustainable transportation community.
    • Familiarity with qualitative or quantitative data collection and analysis methods (i.e. interview, survey and focus group design, modeling, qualitative and statistical analysis, etc.).
    • Breadth of professional expertise and interest, across various energy, environmental, climate, and other issues in the transportation sector.
    • Track record of successful project management and client management.

    Additional Information

    This position can be located in any of Cadmus’s office locations, although Bethesda, MD or Oakland, CA are preferred.
