    Our Homeland Security Sector seeks qualified candidates with experience assessing, analyzing, and writing public policy to support upcoming projects for its homeland security clients, partners, and stakeholders. Successful candidates will have at least one year of demonstrated professional experience in one or more of the following: policy assessment and analysis, policy-focused research, policy or report writing, operational or contingency planning, or other related experience in the homeland security or public policy fields. Preference given to candidates with an interest in emergency management.


    • Provide policy analysis and research on homeland security and emergency management policy-and doctrine-related topics
    • Distill complex information from multiple sources into analytical assessments, reports, memoranda, and presentations tailored for senior public and private sector clients
    • Apply and coordinate analytic methodologies and principles
    • Develop concise, clear, and easily-consumable reports based on current and proposed policy
    • Coordinate with stakeholders to collect, analyze, and report on policy-and doctrine-related data
    • Conduct comprehensive analysis of materials and stakeholder feedback to author and adjust policy and doctrine documents
    • Provide strong attention to detail and apply writing skills to create reports, assessments, and other written deliverables
    • Help lead/manage the work of analysts on client delivery team
    • Help define project objectives and strategic direction for projects


    • Bachelor’s Degree in political science, public policy, social sciences, journalism, homeland security, emergency management, or other relevant field
    • Minimum five years of professional experience, with one year of relevant professional experience providing writing and research support to policy-related projects; preference given to those with experience in the homeland security space and emergency management (Master’s Degree can be substituted for 2 years of experience)
    • Candidates selected may be subject to a security investigation and, if required, should be able to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information

    Required Skills and Experience:

    • Outstanding research, analysis, and communication (oral and written) skills
    • Knowledge of homeland security and emergency management policy
    • Demonstrated professional experience providing writing and research support, preferably to a client in the homeland security field
    • Proficiency in relevant software programs including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
    • Strong attention to detail and the ability to self-edit and quality-check all original work, as well as the work of fellow team members
    • Preferred candidates will have at least one of the following:
      • Experience conducting writing and research support for FEMA
      • Recent DHS Suitability or experience conducting work at a DHS government facility
      • Experience working directly with state, local, or tribal emergency management offices and/or agencies
