    We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager / Director to join the Energy Services practice. Cadmus’ Energy Sector is a premier provider of consulting services and solutions that help our utility sector clients navigate the changing energy landscape. We specialize in research and analysis regarding all facets of energy efficiency and demand response, renewable energy, and distribution planning.

     

    The Business Development Manager will be an integral part of growing Cadmus’ market position in the energy sector. In this role, you will be using your industry knowledge to grow our core client relationships across North America and foster new relationships domestically and abroad. This role is perfect for an experienced sales professional who is fascinated by the technology, policy, and social changes currently transforming the energy industry and wants to have a role shaping the future of energy.

     

    Cadmus is a leading provider of consulting services to utilities, government agencies and the private sector. Our Energy Services division delivers solutions to clients in the areas of energy efficiency and demand response, renewable and distributed energy, sustainability, utility planning and forecasting, and other professional services.

     

    Responsibilities

    Business Development

    • Collaborate with sector leadership on business capture activities, including account management and regional management planning
    • Work with subject matter experts to position Cadmus on key market trends and opportunities to provide new and innovative solutions to clients
    • Shepherd key business development opportunities through the sales lifecycle
    • Provide periodic progress reports to executive leadership on sales performance and targets
    • Support best practices and process improvement in business capture activities
    • As needed, contribute to proposals

     

    Leadership and Team Management

    • Work closely with senior staff and subject matter experts throughout the sales lifecycle
    • Collaborate with company marketing personnel on marketing strategy and initiatives to drive lead generation
    • Coach, mentor, and support internal clients on best practices in account management and business development
    • Support and participate in internal and external debrief efforts
    • Supervise the proposal development team
    • Other projects as planned or requested by the executive team, including participating in the development of cross-service selling resources

     

    Qualifications

    Basic

    • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
    • Eight years’ professional experience, with a minimum of five years in the energy or utility sector
    • Minimum of three years’ experience in professional services sales or business development, with experience in the full sales lifecycle, including new business capture, proposal management, and negotiations
    • Demonstrated ability to coordinate with SMEs in sales process from prospect identification to closing a deal
    • Excellent communicator and team player who approaches work with a positive, constructive attitude
    • Collaborative team leadership style that fosters excellent relationships with peers and internal support teams
    • Proficiency in Microsoft office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Experience working with CRM systems and SharePoint
    • Self-starter with ability to think and work independently and problem solve
    • Ability to thrive in fast paced environment

     

    Preferred

    • Ability to effectively leverage existing business network and actively expand that network
    • Experience using Adobe InDesign and Acrobat and MS Visio 

     

    Additional Information

    The preferred location for this position is Portland, OR although qualified candidates in Waltham, MA, Boulder, CO, Oakland, CA, or Washington, DC will be considered.

     

    Limited travel (2-3 times/year) is anticipated for this position.
