  • Overview

    The Measurement and Engineering team at Cadmus assists clients in assessing energy projects, conducting feasibility and potential studies, evaluating incentive programs, conducting project due diligence, and providing other relevant technical expertise on a variety of energy technologies. Cadmus works with a wide variety of clients, from municipalities and government agencies, to electric and gas utilities, to businesses and private organizations.


    This role is not an engineering design position in the traditional sense, although many of the skills for this role overlap with traditional engineering positions. This position is an opportunity to apply engineering skills as a consultant, and part of a broader approach to accelerating adoption of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies, reducing energy consumption, and collecting/analyzing valuable data on how complex systems operate under real-world conditions.


    This position will be based in Waltham, MA, and will work closely with our staff throughout the country.



    As an entry-level Analyst, duties might include:

    • Participate in research efforts, ensuring consistency and quality of research methods
    • Perform residential, commercial, and industrial site visits to verify energy efficiency measure installation, install metering equipment, and/or collect relevant data
    • Analyze collected data using Excel or other analytical software, identifying trends, summarizing program events, and identifying causal impacts on program results
    • Document findings in reports, memos, and presentations to clients
    • Assist interdisciplinary teams providing technical input to their projects
    • Work with analytic tools to bring new insights into data, including databases and coding




    • Desire to learn, grow, and work hard
    • Completed undergraduate degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related field
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word and Excel
    • Familiarity with Python, VBA, Matlab, R, SQL, Access, FileMaker, MongoDB, or other software programs and tools


    Preferred Experience

    • Familiarity with energy monitoring sensors, loggers, and equipment
    • Familiarity with energy sector or utility industry
    • Good understanding of HVAC, energy efficiency, and renewable energy technologies
    • Familiarity with energy simulation tools (such as eQUEST, Trane TRACE, etc.)
    • Familiarity with power and energy analysis techniques, such as regression, temperature bin analysis, etc.
    • Familiarity with project management tactics and tools, including schedule software and budget tracking.
