The Cadmus Group is a dynamic, innovative consulting firm looking for senior level energy professionals to join our Energy Services team. The Energy Services Sector serves private and public clients in the energy field, providing management consulting related to energy efficiency and renewable energy programs, potential studies, detailed program evaluation and feasibility studies, and energy efficiency standards. We are looking for talented, committed professionals to help us provide advanced analytic and strategic consulting services to energy companies, utilities, governments, and non-profit organizations.


As a part of the Energy Sector, you will design and lead a variety of projects which could span the breadth of residential, commercial and industrial energy efficiency programs across the U.S. This position focuses on contributing to Cadmus’ building energy codes and appliance standards area, which involves building science, energy analysis, policy and regulatory analysis, and cutting edge analyses. You will work as an advisor and mentor for junior staff and be a regular contributor to proposals and other business development opportunities.


Candidates should be highly motivated to perform and learn, able to work collaboratively and independently, develop strong client relationships, manage assigned tasks and projects from start to finish with input from supervisors, and have exceptional analytical, written, and presentation skills.



  • Design and lead research projects and tasks that assess quantitative and qualitative impacts of programs involving building energy codes and appliance standards.
  • Conduct studies involving building science and building design and perform energy analysis using engineering analysis, industry standard building energy simulation tools, and other methodologies.
  • Analyze the integration of renewables into building energy codes as part of zero net energy code requirements.
  • Develop and implement high quality research, data collection, and data analysis methodologies.
  • Analyze the role of building energy efficiency and energy codes and appliance standards as mechanisms to meet air quality requirements, such as those of the Clean Power Plan.
  • Develop and manage multidisciplinary teams of researchers to conduct diverse projects. Be responsible for identifying, engaging, and managing appropriate subcontractors.
  • Develop project work plans, budgets, schedules, and timelines and manage projects to satisfy all project requirements. Ensure that quality assurance is a priority throughout all project stages and delivered products are of the highest quality.
  • Plan and write clear, accurate, and understandable project documents including work plans, interim reports, memos, and draft and final reports. Manage and instruct other staff on high quality writing practices. Review all written materials prepared by team members to ensure quality, accuracy, and clarity.
  • Analyze data and qualitative research obtained from a wide variety of data collection efforts in order to draw logical conclusions and develop insightful recommendations
  • Develop good client relationships and work effectively with clients to manage projects or support project managers by providing technical guidance and assisting with client management.
  • Work independently or with supervision to conduct qualitative and quantitative research, and supervise teams of staff to implement research tasks and other project assignments.
  • Lead and contribute to business development through proposals, client relationships, and other venues. Help develop Cadmus’ growing codes and standards business area.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff. Assist in the development of analytical skills and expansion of subject matter expertise.
  • Promote Cadmus’ reputation through conference paper submissions and presentations.




  • Master’s degree in architecture, engineering, building science, or related field
  • 4+ years’ work experience in the energy or energy efficiency sector with strong experience in project management, and research and analysis
  • Experience in energy efficiency project planning and implementation; experience with energy codes and /or appliance standards
  • Knowledge of residential, commercial, and/or industrial energy systems and energy efficiency solutions
  • Excellent writing, communication, and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative capabilities
  • Track record in staying on schedule and budget
  • Experience serving as the primary point of contact for clients



  • Doctorate in architecture, engineering, building science, or related field
  • Professional engineer certification preferred
  • Experience in program evaluation is a plus
  • Experience leading and supporting business development activities
