About the Opportunity

 

Cadmus’ Homeland Security Sector is seeking candidates for the Research Analyst position to support analytical work for its homeland security clients. A Research Analyst is an entry-level position with varied analytical and administrative responsibilities—such as research, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and preparing reports and briefings for senior government officials and the public. A Research Analyst typically reports to leaders for individual tasks as well as an overall project manager.

 

This position will include supporting FEMA’s National Preparedness Assessment Division (NPAD), specifically by conducting qualitative and quantitative analyses evaluating activities, programs, and policies as they relate to national preparedness for natural and manmade disasters. Projects may include evaluations of program effectiveness, case studies, and briefings for FEMA leadership.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Developing assessments, reports, memoranda, presentations, and training material for government clients
  • Conducting preparedness-related research and analysis to develop communications products
  • Coordinating with stakeholders to collect and report on preparedness-related data
  • Employing qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques to draw conclusions from preparedness data
  • Providing legislative and policy analysis and research on preparedness-related topics
  • Working directly with government clients and Cadmus supervisors to performing administrative tasks, such as scheduling, organizing meetings, and taking notes

As an entry-level position, we invite both recent graduates and those with relevant experience to apply for the Research Analyst opening. Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Outstanding research and analysis skill using both quantitative and qualitative techniques
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in relevant software programs, such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as public policy or a social science
  • Candidates selected may be subject to a security investigation and, if required, should be able to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information


We will also consider these additional qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience and interest in homeland security and emergency management
  • Knowledge of Presidential Policy Directive 8 (PPD-8) and the National Preparedness System
  • Experience conducting preparedness assessments for FEMA or other federal/state/local clients
